Tánaiste: AstraZeneca Vaccine May Be Given To Younger People As Possible Hundreds Of Thousands Go Spare

The injection is currently only offered to those over the age of 50 because of concerns about blood clots in younger groups
But Leo Varadkar says this may change if the National Immunisation Advisory Committee allows it.
He says he doesn’t want to see the AstraZeneca vaccine go to waste:
"We may, over the course of the next couple of weeks, have hundreds of thousands of excess AZ vaccines and it would be a shame not to use them. So there is some engagement ongoing with the health authorities, with NIAC now, as to whether we could offer those excess AstraZeneca vaccines in June and July to people in those younger cohorts."
