Tánaiste says he'd like travel between Britain and Ireland return as soon as possible

Leo Varadkar says he'd like to see it happen before travel is allowed within the EU

Mr Varadkar says that Ireland will be taking part in the digital passport programme and predicts a return to Europe wide travel late in the summer or early autumn.

However he says that all depends on case numbers in individual countries:

"I think as the teacher indicated yesterday maybe late in the summer or early autumn, but that it means something in terms of you being able to fly. And even then, you just don't know whether or not the bean outbreak in the country that you want to fly to that I think in the short and shorter term in the medium term one thing that I would like to see a given full consideration is, is restoration of the Common Travel Area, between Britain and Ireland."
