Taoiseach urges people to celebrate St Patrick's Day in a Covid safe way

Micheal Martin says gatherings will undermine all of the sacrifices we have made to date.

High-visibility patrols and checkpoints will be stepped up tomorrow in anticipation of a number of planned anti-lockdown protests in Dublin city centre. 

The Justice Minister Helen McEntee is urging people not to come into the city. 

Taosieach Micheal Martin says people need to stay focused this bank holiday: "It's very important that people avoid social gathering, congregation of any sort, given the state of play in relation to the virus itself, we are dealing with a variant that spreads far more easily, and we know from research, a variant that is more deadly."
