The hospitality sector says the current Covid-19 supports in place do not go far enough

Groups representing pubs, restaurants and hotels will today warn TDs and Senators that many businesses are on the brink of permanent closure

They're calling for the 9 per cent VAT rate to remain in place until 2025, along with an extension to the waiver on commercial rates paid to local authorities.

The Joint Committee on Tourism will also hear calls for all hospitality businesses to be allowed re-open at the same time.

RAI CEO Adrian Cummins says they want clear guidance on when it's safe to open up again:

"We need a plan for reopening. And we need to we need to sit down with a government is to plot out how we actually reopen our industry in the summer under public health guidance guidelines when it's safe to reopen"
