100 Take Part In Christmas Tree Throwing Competition
More than 100 people took part in the annual Christmas Tree throwing championship in Co. Clare yesterday. The fundraising event, which is based on age-old lumberjack tradition saw members of the public compete for the Irish record for tossing a standard 1.5 metre tree. Gary O'Growney from Clare equalled last year's record with a throw of 10 metres. The ladies title was won by Norah Murphy with an impressive 6.3 metre throw.
