10,000 missing persons cases filed with gardaí every year

A search coordinator with Cork City Missing Persons Search and Recovery has appealed to missing people who are safe and well to let the relevant authorities know.
10,000 missing persons cases are filed with the gardaí every year and according to the organisation 1% of these cases become long term missing persons.
It's also emerged that 60% of missing persons cases that are filed with the gardaí every year are repeat cases.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show search coordinator with Missing.ie David Lenihan says they take every case very seriously and as a result those who are safe should let someone know:
