123 repossession cases filed in the courts for Cork city this week
123 repossession cases have been filed in the courts for Cork city alone this week. That's according to debt solutions group New Beginning which estimates that this figure will escalate into the high thousands this year if the problem isn't tackled. Ross Maguire from the group says they're currently working on a scheme to assist people in serious difficulties with their mortgages. The proposed scheme would see people who are unable to pay their mortgage, but could pay rent, become tenants to a bank rather than debtors. Speaking to RedFM News he says the "mortgage to lease" plan is about eight weeks away from being launched. Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
