130 Motorists Caught Speeding So Far On National Slow Down Day

Gardaí are out in force in an attempt to crack down on speeding motorists.

Between 7am and 11.30am, gardai and speed vans checked 33,500 vehicles and detected 130 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.

One vehicle was clocked travelling at 119km/hr in a 100km zone on the N20 at Kilmona, Grenagh while a second vehicle was 15 km over the speed limit at Ballyadam in Carrigtwohill

Gardai say the objective of the day is to reduce the number of speed related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads
