28-Year-Old Man Due In Court Over Tuesday's Hostage Situation in Cork
A 28-year-old man is due to appear in court this morning in connection with a hostage situation on the northside of the city in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A couple in their 50's were held hostage in their home in St Mary's Road for around 5 hours before members of the Regional Support unit stormed into the house and overpowered two men using a taser and pepper spray.
The couple were taken to hospital for medical attention for injuries which were sustained before Gardaí arrived on the scene.
A 26-year-old man charged in relation to the incident appeared in court yesterday morning.
A 28-year-old man - also charged - will appear before Cork District Court this morning.
