Over half of the company's workforce in Ringaskiddy will lose their jobs by 2022
Staff were summoned to a meeting at 8 o'clock this morning where they were told of the job cuts and the timeline
In a statement issued to RedFM News Novartis says it's to relocate a number of their global services to centralised operation centres in Europe and Asia but says they will continue to evaluate potential partnership opportunities and divestment scenarios across the Ringaskiddy campus
Tanaiste Simon Coveney has reacted to the job losses describing it as significant blow
He's confirmed that he has spoken to the Business Minister Heather Humphreys as well as the IDA to ensure all available supports from state agencies are now open to the staff

The Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin has described the news as devastating for the region.
He's urging the Government and the IDA to prevent as many job losses as possible, to relocate those that lose jobs and to seek an alternative company to invest.
