39 Full-Time Beach Lifeguards On Duty Across 12 Cork Beaches From Today

The life-guarding service of 39 full-time beach lifeguards, as well as a backup support team if required, will operate from half past 10 in the morning, until 7 in the evening

It will operate daily until the 12th September.

The public is reminded that Red & Yellow Flags indicate that lifeguards are on duty, a red flag indicates that swimming is not advised and a black & white chequered flag means the area is for surfing only.

In a statement to RedFM News, Cork County Council's Water Safety Office said that it is important to supervise children at all times on the sand and in the water, to swim within your depth at all times, and never to use inflatable toys or beds on open water.

The Council's Beach Lifeguards will monitor the safety of swimmers on 12 Cork beaches, in East Cork at Youghal - Front Strand, Claycastle, Redbarn and Garryvoe, in the Carrigaline Area at Fountainstown, in West Cork at Inchydoney East & West, Owenahincha, The Warren, Tragumna and Barleycove Beaches, and at the Old Head of Kinsale in Garrylucas and Garretstown.
