42-Year-Old Father Of Four Jailed In Connection To The Biggest Ever Heroin Seizure In Cork City
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 8 years in prison
The seizure of 3 kilos of heroin with an estimated street value of €418,600 was made in July 2020.

'Derek Keenan, of Harbour View Road in Knocknaheeny pleaded guilty to the possession of heroin and possession of heroin for sale and supply at his home in July of last year. Members of Cork City Divisional Drugs Squad recovered close to three kilos of the drug following a surveillance operation at the house in the City Centre. In court Detective Seargant O'Halloran described Derek Keenan, who has 29 previous convictions, as a "key player" in the drugs trade in Cork City, and that his actions brought a lot of heroin in to the city. Judge Sean O'Donnabhain described the drugs seizure as "very significant", and sentecned him to ten years in prison, with the last two years suspended.'
