A Cork TD Is Calling For The Planning Application Process At Bessborough To Be Stopped Immediately
Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire is calling on the Council to intervene
The Sinn Fein Education Spokesperson says an investigation of the Bessborough grounds should be prioritised.
Eoghan Murphy has this report for RedFM News:
'Earlier this week, it emerged that there are now planning applications for the site of the former Bessborough Mother and Baby Home. Last year, an interim report was unable to establish where 900 children who died at Bessborough were buried. Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire says that hundreds of children, and hundreds if not thousands of mothers passed through Bessborough, and that the application process is deeply hurtful to the victims and survivors of the mother and baby home. The Cork TD is now calling on the Council not to approve the application, and in to instead allow for the investigation of the Bessborough grounds, and indeed all other such sites across the country.'
