A number of retail jobs are being lost in the City today following Arcadia collapse
Mandate says redundancies will begin later at around 14 of the groups stores in Ireland.
487 people are being made redundant at stores such as Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Wallis and Miss Selfridge, all of which had a presence in the city.
The UK based Arcadia fell into administration in November, however stores here were allowed to continue trading during December.
Spokesperson for the union, Jonathan Hogan is very worried for the retail sector here:
"We're seeing yet again traditional retail jobs being lost to online retailers. So the old bricks and mortar traditional retail is changing before our eyes. Certainly a concern for Mandate and the members we represent. We were hoping for the members impacted within the Arcadia group in Ireland that their jobs would be secured by the take over of a traditional bricks and mortar retailer. But unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case now."
