A Sandstorm Is Affecting Flights Between Cork And The Canary Islands

A flight due to leave Cork this morning shortly after 6.30 did not take off until 8am

It was due to the extreme weather.

There's also disruption to scheduled arrivals into Cork and Shannon this afternoon, with the latter this morning hit with a four hour delay.

High winds have whipped up sands from the Sahara desert, which are now affected the group of islands, which lie 60 kilometres off the coast of Africa.
