Adi Roche receives Freedom of the City

The official ceremony took place this afternoon.
The City's Lord Mayor has bestowed the Freedom of the City on Adi Roche.
The honour is in recognition of her founding of the Chernobyl Children International Charity which provides aid to the children of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine affected by the 1986 Chernobyl Disaster.
Lord Mayor Cllr Chris O'Leary travelled to Chernobyl with Adi last year and has always praised her dedication and endless commitment as a campaigner for peace, humanitarian aid and education in the wake of the Nuclear Disaster.
For her part Adi says her charity would have achieved very little without the support and role of the many thousands of volunteers and supporters in Ireland who have contributed to the work of the Charity over the past 30 years.
Speaking to RedFM News Adi says without the people of Cork she would have been a lone voice in the wilderness.
