Adult And Child Taken To CUH After Being Rescued From The Water Off Fountainstown Yesterday
Crosshaven RNLI received reports of a person clinging to a marker buoy in the water at 7:30pm.
By the time they reached the pair the adult had been taken to safety by a RIB crewed by five 16 year olds who had been fishing in White Bay and responded to the Coast Guard radio call.
Meanwhile the younger casualty had floated out the sea on an inflatable lilo and was rescued by a local kayaker.
Rescue Helicopter 117 transported the father and son to CUH for medical treatment.
Co-incidentally three of the teenagers involved in the rescue have RNLI connections, including Jamie Venner, whose father Ian was at the helm of the Crosshaven lifeboat during last nights operation.
