Agriculture Minister in West Cork to launch Lusitania commemoration

The ship sank in 1915.
The Minister for Agriculture will be in West Cork this evening to launch the 100 year commemoration ceremonies marking the anniversary of the sinking of the Lusitania.
Four coastal communities in Cork - Kinsale, The Old Head, Cobh and Courtmacsherry are remembering the centenary with a number of events entitled "Lusitania 100 Cork" which will pay tribute to all those who lost their lives in 1915.
The events in Courtmacsherry commence tonight with Minister Simon Coveney performing the official opening of the week long programme of events..
President Michael D Higgins will be in Cobh next Thursday for the official commemoration in the town where he will lay a wreath at the Lusitania Monument in the Town Square.
