Agriculture Minister says new routes are on the cards for Cork Airport
It comes as the government agreed to support the Aer Lingus bid by IAG.
The Agriculture Minister says the IAG bid to takeover Aer Lingus will mean new routes will be announced out of Cork Airport.
Simon Coveney was speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show after IAG offered €335 million for the Government's stake in the airline and agreed new guarantees about the Heathrow landing slots and the future of routes from Irish airports.
The Cabinet agreed last night to support the bid by International Airlines Group and it's to be voted on in the Dáil tomorrow after a two day debate.
A spokesman for Cork Airport says if the deal goes through consumers would be able to book seamless connecting services to and from Cork
to a host of new destinations.
Speaking on RedFM this morning Simon Coveney outlined what the deal will mean for Cork.
