Almost 1,500 extra people have been added to the city's housing waiting list in the last month, since the city boundary extension took effect.
RedFM News has seen the housing waiting list for May which shows that 5,546 families and individuals are now waiting for a home, that figure stood at 4,063 in April.
Calls are now being made for future plans for social and affordable housing to be fast tracked, and for the Housing Minister to step in to allow this to happen.
Speaking to RedFM News Cllr Thomas Gould says it will be an even more difficult situation for those already on the housing waiting in the city:
