Ambassadors and Diplomats from across the globe meet in Cork
A gala for diplomats was held last night as a means to build a relationship between the diplomatic sector and the corporate sector as well as to promote tourism in Cork
The largest Gathering of Ambassadors and Diplomats outside of Dublin was held in Cork last night.
Every continent across the globe and 45 countries were represented at the Diplomat Dinner from the UK and US to the People's Republic of China.
The Gala event was sponsored by Cork County Council, VoxPro, Alliance Francaise and the Cork Civic Trust.
The aim of the evening was to foster relationships between the diplomatic sector and the corporate sector as well as to promote tourism in Cork and across the South of Ireland.
United Stage Ambassador to Ireland Kevin O'Malley and his wife Dena received The Spirit of Ireland Award for their contribution to Irish/American relations.
Leslie and Carmel Buckley were presented with the VoxPro Diplomat Global Achievement Award for their work to help the people of Haiti.
Speaking to RedFM News County Mayor Councillor Seamus McGrath says hosting the event in Cork shows how important the region is to Irish industry.
