Animal rights group plan education programme for children

It will aim to teach children the importance of kindness to animals.
An animal welfare group is rolling out an education programme to teach children the importance of kindness to animals.
The new programme being developed by ARAN comes in the wake of a brutal attack on a small dog in Mayfield called Marvin who died a slow death after he had his throat slit at the weekend.
The group has added another €5,000 euro to the reward fund for information established on the Neil Prendeville Show following the attack so it has now been closed and stands at €11,000.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show John Carmody from ARAN hopes to be able to run their educational programme through local schools in Mayfield and elsewhere.
