Anti-water charges group call for the resignation of Council officials
It follows a dispute over a petition calling for the boycott of Irish Water.
An anti-water charges group are to call for the resignation of the Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor at a public meeting in Cork tonight.
The People's Conventions are putting the motion to a vote, following the refusal by the Lord Mayor to receive a petition with 15,000 signatures to boycott Irish Water.
The group say they requested that the Lord Mayor meet them outside City hall on Monday ahead of a City Council meeting - but that no one arrived on the steps to meet them.
The Lord Mayor is abroad on city business and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Ken O'Flynn says he was instructed not to accept the petition.
Speaking to RedFM News, Diarmuid O'Cadhla of the People's Convention has described the refusal to receive the petition as insulting.
