Anti-water charges protests are continuing Leeside this weekend.

Four were mounted during the week in Curraheen housing estate, Ard Cashel housing estate in Watergrasshill, Gratten Street and Leesdale housing estate where residents displayed 'no contract, no consent' signs and formed blockades at the entrance to their estates.

Gardaí were called to Ard Cashel housing estate where residents physically blocked the installation of water meters by standing over the stop-cock valves.

Meanwhile bus loads of Cork anti-water charges campaigners were gearing up to take part in a national demonstration in Dublin at the end of the month.
