ASTI insists strike action was effective as part of industrial action campaign.

The head of the ASTI is insisting strike action was a very effective part of their industrial action campaign.

Hundreds of schools were closed last month in a campaign which was suspended to allow more talks.

Those discussions produced a new document which is going to a ballot of members, although the union's Central Executive Committee is recommending it be rejected.

President Ed Byrne says if members reject it, more strikes could happen, or they could take their industrial action closer to the department instead:
