Ballincollig based councillor says the people of the town do not want to become part of the city
The town is in opposition to the McKinnon Review which recommends for Ballincollig to be included in the city remit
Opposition has intensified in recent weeks and "Ballincollig Says No" signs have been erected in the town.
Both local authorities appear to be at odds over the findings of the review group with the City's Lord Mayor accusing the County Council of spreading falsehoods and of attempts to whip up unnecessary fear in communities.
However the County Council have sought clarification on a number of features in the report issued by the McKinnon Review group and have expressed concern about the loss of land and rates.
Speaking to RedFM News Ballincollig based Cllr Derry Canty says they've launched a challenge and it's clear that the people of Ballincollig do not want to be under the remit of the City Council.
