Ban could be on the cards for Youghal beaches
The swimming ban could be up to four years.
It's feared Youghal beaches may be hit with a swimming ban for up to four years.
It comes after delays in the development of a waste water treatment plant in town - due to hold ups in the issuing of a foreshore license.
It's also emerged that an objection from a shellfish company is likely - over concerns about one of the proposed outfall points for waste water in the harbour, where mussel beds are located.
Last week the Youghal's Front Strand was one of seven beaches nationwide to have been given a poor quality rating by the EPA.
