Bandon Councillor Gillian Coughlan Starts First Full Day As County Mayor Today

Cllr Mary Linehan Foley handed over the chains of office following yesterday's vote

Cathal Rasmussen has been elected as the deputy mayor.

Speaking to RedFM News, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley says she's looking forward to a short break and has this advice for the new Mayor:

"I suppose the advice that I would give to the next mayor is to enjoy it, to relish it and to make it her own. That's what I've done. I tried to make it my own in the sense that everybody has different personalities and comes from different walks of life. I'm the type of person anyway, I deal with the cards that I'm dealt, as in it doesn't bother me. Plan A doesn't work, I go to plan B. You just keep rocking on like that. So I'll enjoy a bit of downtime maybe for a week or two, and then we'd rock on again and keep continuing to bring in the fundings and to do what we can do for the beautiful East Cork."
