Bank of Ireland to close nine branches in Cork
Bank of Ireland is closing nine branches in Cork City and County- the most of any county in the country.
Branches in Glanmire, Bantry, Cobh, Dunmanway, Kanturk, Millstreet, Mitchelstown and Youghal will close by the end of September.
The student branch at CIT/MTU will also close.
They're among 88 branches the bank will shut in the Republic ahead of a new partnership with An Post that will offer banking services at over 900 locations
BOI Group CEO Francesca McDonagh says the closures are in response to customer demand:.
"Customers want more digital and they want fewer branches, and they're voting with their feet.
"We're closing 88 branches, we're retaining a nationwide presence of 169.
"Also we're announcing a new partnership with An Post today to enable all Bank of Ireland customers to use their outlets to do banking as well."
