Barry's Tea Withdraws Sponsorship Of Greyhound Race In Cork

Barry's Tea has withdrawn sponsorship of an annual greyhound race at Curraheen Park following concern about the mistreatment of dogs in the greyhound racing industry.

Barry's said it was "saddened and horrified by the recent revelations" in the RTE Investigates programme

Over 220 people attended a protest at Curraheen Park on Saturday following the documentary, which revealed that thousands of dogs in the industry are culled every year.

The Irish Greyhound Board says they will continue to engage with their sponsors on their strong commitment to the welfare of racing greyhounds, including the measures approved by the Board at a special meeting last Friday
