Blackpool Residents To Protest Over Lack Of Flood Protection

Residents and traders in Blackpool say they can no longer live in fear of flooding. The village has been hit several times in recent years and many property owners have no flood insurance as a result. They're frustrated at what they claim is the city council's failure to protect them. Immediate remedial works that were promised back in March have yet to be carried out while no application has been made for an emergency fund from the OPW worth up to 500,000 euro. The Blackpool Flooding Group is organising a protest at the local community centre at 4.30 this afternoon.
