Broadband usage sees huge increase during the pandemic

There's been a 345% increase in the number of broadband users who downloaded at least one Terabyte of data per month since the start of the pandemic.
New research from Pure Telecom shows broadband downloads in general more than doubled here in the last year.
November 2020 was a standout month with households downloading an average 987 gigabytes - more than double other months.
Pure Telecom CEO Paul Connell explains why there was such an increase.
"The Presidential election in the States was a major news point at that time.
"The launch of the new Playstation, and the revised Call of Duty game and there was a few other games released at that time - and certainly that would appear to be the cause of the big spike in download traffic."
