Business leaders in Little Island say it's time a plan was formulated for the future of the area to deal with the projected growth

They are also calling for speedy action to be take on the lack of infrastructure in the industrial estate as there is no public bus service, no bus or cycle lanes and inadequate road access network

The County Council is to conduct a transportation study in the area to help alleviate traffic gridlock which sees up to 10,000 workers commuting in and out of Little Island on a daily basis.

The Little Island Business Association has pointed out that it pays well over €20 million in rates to the Council and the amount of investment in the area by the Council is not consistent.

Speaking to RedFM News the Association's Michael Mulcahy say in order for changes to be made a plan must be put in place.
