Cabinet Minister criticises Ireland's tax treatment of some corporations

Children's Minister Katherine Zappone has described Ireland's tax treatment of some corporations as unethical

A Cabinet Minister has again criticised the Government's position on the ruling of the Apple tax judgement from the European Commission.

Children's Minister Katherine Zappone says while she supports the decision to appeal, she feels Ireland's tax treatment of some corporations has been unethical.

The full commission ruling's been published ahead of an appeal to the European courts which is to begin next year.

Apple's European Headquarters is based at Hollyhill in the city and the company employs around 5,000 people across a number of sites in Cork

Minister Zappone says the appeal is important.
