Calls For A Winter Plan To be Rolled Out At Cork Hospitals
The INMO is to meet with management at CUH next week to discuss measures to tackle overcrowding
The threat of unprecedented hospital overcrowding in Cork this winter requires unprecedented levels of planning.
That's according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation who were speaking ahead of a meeting with management at CUH next week to discuss measures aimed at tackling overcrowding.
The union have warned that additional front line staff, bed spaces and increased availability of step down facilities are needed as a matter of urgency if the overcrowding crisis is to be brought under control.
Speaking to RedFM News, Liam Conway from the INMO in Cork says the first step has to be the reversal of a local recruitment freeze:
