Calls for City Council to improve conditions at Ballyvolane halting site

The City Council is being urged to enter into talks with the residents of a Ballyvolane halting site to urgently improve conditions at the site... The site was first opened in 1980 as a temporary site for 10 families, but three decades later it is home to 34 families with no access to running water, and all toilet, shower and cooking facilities are shared. A blueprint has been drawn up by former manager of South County Dublin Joe Horan which contains a number of recommendations including urgent repair works at the site and the establishment of new houses... In the past residents have described life on the site as depressing and says it's like "living in hell".. Louise Harrington of the Cork Travellers Womens Network told RedFM News that residents now want a commitment for action Click PLAY to hear audio
