Residents of Cobh faced difficulties accessing the town during Storm Ophelia.
An emergency plan needs to be put in place to ensure Cobh is not isolated during storms.
That's according to Councillor Anthony Barry who says meaures need to be taken to ensure safe access to the town in the future.
All access routes to Cobh were disrupted during Storm Opehlia as fallen trees obstructed parts of the sole road into the town while the cross river ferry and rail service were suspended due to dangerous weather conditions. Consequently Emergency services faced difficulties getting in and out of the town.
Talks are underway between Cork County Council, Gardai and the owners of Fota estate for access to the private road through the estate in a bid to ensure access to Cobh during future storms.
Speaking to RedFM News Fine Gael Councillor Anthony Barry says emergency services need to gain access to the town.
