Calls for review into report which reportedly over estimated cost of tidal barrier for Cork
Save Cork City are calling for the review of the report which says the cost of the proposed harbour tidal barrier has been over-estimated by €200 million.
The report which was commissioned by the group and carried out by Delft University in the Netherlands showed significant mistakes were made in the original cost report.
The university estimates the barrier will cost €186 million, more than half the lowest OPW estimate.
The OPW ruled out the proposed barrier due to the estimated cost and said it would not protect the city against fluvial flooding.
Save Cork City say they have consulted experts who say the proposed barrier is the right fit for Cork.
