Calls for smoky coal ban to be extended across Cork county
Calls are being made for the extension of the smoky coal ban across Cork county. The Asthma Society of Ireland is calling on householders across the county to be a "lifesaver" and burn smokeless coal to reduce asthma symptoms and save lives. Ireland has the fourth highest prevalence of asthma worldwide and smoky coal is a commonly known asthma trigger It's estimated that 2,000 lives would be saved every year is the smoky coal ban was extended right across the country Niamh Kelly of the Asthma Society of Ireland told RedFM News that 1 in 5 of their members has experienced an asthma attack because of smoky coals Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
