Calls made for review of flood defence designs in Cork
Calls are being made for an overall design review of flood defence plans for the city.
The Lower Lee Flood Relief is the biggest flood prevention project ever undertaken in the history of the state and will cost €150 million to complete.
However fears have been raised about the plans, which include new walls on the River Lee, the construction and alteration of walls along the quays and the installation of flood gates and barriers.
A human chain protest is being organised by the Save Cork City campaign this weekend in a bid to raise awareness about the impact of the plans.
Polly Magee of Magee Creedon Architects is one of the members of the group and speaking to RedFM News she says there's a number of problems with the plans:
