Calls Made to Link Cork Rent Rates to the Cost of Living

The Secure Rent Campaign is calling on the Government to link rents to the Cost of Living.
Hundreds of renters attended a meeting in Cork last night which was designed to highlight the plight of tenants who are facing hikes in rent prices.
According to recent figures rents in Cork have increased by 14% and are expected to rise by between 22% and 26% over the next 2 and a half years.
The One Cork collaborative trade union group says rent certainty and stability need to be introduced as many families are being pushed into homelessness due to rising rents.
Speaking to RedFM News IMPACT's Joe O'Connor says legislation must be brought in to protect those in private rental accommodation:
