Calls on Dunnes to attend the Labour Relations Commission

Thousands of workers at Dunnes Stores are beginning a 24 hour strike this morning. The dispute is over the use of temporary or 'zero hour' contracts at the supermarket. Here in Cork, 600 Mandate workers at Dunnes are expected to take part in the work stoppages at 13 stores across the city and county.. Mandate has accused Dunnes of refusing to negotiate with them, or to attend the Labour Court. Today's strike is one of the biggest private sector walk-outs in almost 20 years.. Junior Minister for Business and Employment Ged Nash says the company and staff should start talks at the Labour Relations Commission. Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
