Car stolen in Mayfield while the owner was de-icing it

Motorists across Cork are being warned about leaving the keys in the ignition of their cars when de-icing their vehicles on these cold mornings... A Mayfield man who switched on his car's engine to defrost the windows on Sunday had his Toyota Yaris stolen from the driveway of his Liffey Park home when he went back inside the house to make a phonecall. 63-year-old Stephen O'Connor alerted the guards and after a full search of the area his car was recovered in the nearby Silver Heights area. The family have gone public in an effort to warn others to be mindful about leaving keys in the ignition especially on frosty mornings
