Cautious Welcome to Judge Meehan Report from 221+ CervicalCheck Patient Support Group

The 221 Plus CervicalCheck Patient Support Group have issued a cautious welcome to the publication of the Judge Meenan Report.

The report recommends setting up a Tribunal to hear and determine Cervical Check claims  which would be held in private and be less formal than a court process. 

The Health Minister asked Mr Justice Charles Meenan to come up with an alternative system to the courts for dealing with claims as a result of the scandal.

The group which was launched by Cork man Stephen Teap whose wife lost her battle with cervical cancer after misread smear tests say while they welcome the recommendation they're disappointed that the earlier commitment by An Taoiseach to a totally non adversarial process has not been realised.
