Celtic Tiger sun breaks lead to peak in skin cancer rates
The National Cancer Registry says sun holidays have caused a rapid rise in the cases of skin cancer. NCRI figures show the rate of the disease almost doubled between 1994 and 2011. It says that's down to the increases in sun holidays - with the number of new cases growing by between 6 and 10% between 2002 and 2011 as more people splashed out on sun getaways.
