Child Homelessness In Cork And Kerry Has Increased By More Than Two And Half Times The National Average
255 children were homeless in the region at the end of last month
Child homelessness in Cork and Kerry has increased by more than two and half times the national average.
Figures released by the Department of Housing show 255 children were homeless in the region at the end of last month, an increase of 78% since July last year.
Homeless groups have reacted angrily to yesterday's Government figures showing 9,891 men, women and children are now in emergency accommodation.
The Simon Community say it's not fair that people have nowhere to go if they can't afford to rent.
Merchant's Quay Ireland says the figures are a national disgrace - and Anthony Flynn, the CEO of Inner City Helping Homeless says the Government needs a new plan.
