City Boundary recommendation to be sent to the Minister shortly
The review has been examining the possibility of merging Cork City and County Council's into one super council
The recommendation of the expert group examining the city boundary is expected to be sent to the Minister for the Environment in the coming weeks.
It's emerged that the Local Government Review Group is close to finalising their recommendation and it's expected that Alan Kelly will not delay in making a decision after receiving it.
The review of the city boundary has sparked debate in recent months over the possibility of merging Cork City and Cork Council's into one super council.
Cork Chamber has come out in favour of a merge saying it would benefit businesses in the region.
However, speaking to RedFM News, Lord Mayor Cllr Chris O'Leary says an amalgamation raises a lot of logistical questions:
