City centre blaze brought under control

It happened on Carey's Lane this afternoon.

A building in the city centre remains fenced off from the public this evening following a fire earlier today.

The blaze broke out at the Asian Street Food Restaurant Aroi, on Carey's Lane at around half past 12 this afternoon.

It's understood the fire began in an extraction unit in the restaurant and three units of the fire brigade, the ESB and the Gardaí responded to the scene.

Carey's Lane and French Street are now open again to the public following the incident.

Eyewitness Bryan McCarthy told RedFM News, what he saw when he arrived at the scene.
