City Centre Movement Strategy To Make Cork More Attractive To Large Operators & Chains

The City Centre Movement Strategy is the first step in making the city more attractive to large operators and high street chains such as Zara.

That's according to Cork Business Association who say that the reintroduction of the bus corridor on Patrick St, which prohibits private vehicles between 3pm and 6.30pm, is key to making the city more accessible.

 

The initiative was first introduced in March but was suspended after traders voiced concerns about a decrease in footfall and business.

 

However City Council say they're confident it will be a success the time as a raft of measures, including parking incentives and  reduced bus fares, have been introduced to complement the new measure.

 

Speaking to RedFM News Laurence Owens of Cork Business Association says Cork city is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and it has to be made more accessible as it grows:
