Clonakilty traders outraged over rotten smell

Business owners in Clonakilty are calling for immediate action to solve a rotten egg type smell that's affecting the town. An employee from the county council's environment department has been appointed to find the source of the odour. Work is also due to commence on a replacement sewage treatment plant. However, traders say the stench has been affecting them for the last two years and they've been telling Cork's RedFM that it can't go on any longer. Cllr Christopher O'Sullivan is chairman of the town’s tourist board. He told Cork's RedFM that they need to be careful about how the west Cork town is portrayed to the rest of the country: (Click above to hear audio of local business owners followed by Cllr O'Sullivan)
